Description

Contact mike.frederick@thoreausociety.org for more information or to schedule an appointment to view the watch.

This is a gorgeous Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust men's watch with a stainless steel and 18k gold jubilee wristband. It was purchased in 2002 for $5,697.75 (tax included) from Mayor's in Atlanta, a premier jeweler since 1910. The auction item includes all the original booklets, packaging, sales receipt, and appraisal ($5,325.00).

Introduced in 1945, the Oyster Perpetual Datejust was the first wristwatch to feature a date display, clearly visible with a special magnifying Cyclops lens. It is self-winding and waterproof to 100 metres/330 feet. Visit the Rolex website for more details:

Proceeds from the sale of the Rolex help to fund our membership building initiatives and programs throughout the year.

For example: The Society recently funded two important Direct Mail campaigns: one to former Thoreau Society members and another one to University and Public Libraries. These initiatives promise to both build our overall membership and extend the reach of our publications, and along with them, information about Thoreau.
