A $30 Gift Certificate for the Black Door Restaurant in Montpelier.

From the Burlington Free Press: "The two-story restaurant is as attractive a space as any on the northern Vermont restaurant scene. Those who remember Julio's (which has since moved around the corner), will recognize the red brick walls and the Cape Verde green marble bar, but the attractive lighting scheme, art-deco style touches, and interesting metalwork are all new as envisioned by Jody Jacobs, the building's co-owner. The top floor will be used as a private event space and also recently hosted the first of many planned musical performances. (Happily, for those dining on the main floor, the sound did not travel at all.)

 The menu has three categories of dishes labeled only by price: salads, soups, and small appetizers are all $5; larger appetizers that can also serve as small entrees (sometimes called medium plates on other menus) such as the house burger with fries or Grafton smoked Cheddar tamales are $9; with more substantial entrees like a spice-rubbed New York strip steak with bacon-Cheddar whipped potatoes or Misty Knoll chicken scaloppini with grilled blue cheese polenta for $16."
