Description

Kathy's Deep Creek Hideaway is a Pet Friendly Western North Carolina 2 story, 2 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin. Located on a quiet hillside in the Deep Creek area just minutes outside of Bryson City. The cabin is fully furnished and has all the necessities to get away from it all for a few days or a week.

The kitchen comes equipped with a range, full sized refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and an assortment of pots & pans, plates, cups and silverware. A small breakfast table next to a large picture window allows you to view the forest & bird feeders off the back porch. The upstairs bedroom has it's own bathroom and downstairs is the main bathroom with a washer & dryer. The living room has a gas fireplace/stove, TV, DVD ceiling fan and a sleeper sofa. The cabin also has local phone service providing internet connection to those with dialup on a laptop. Of course, the cabin has central heat and air for your comfort.

On the back porch you'll find a hot tub, charcoal and gas grill and a couple bird feeders. Spread some bird seed on the porch rail and watch the birds come in and feed. A small table & 4 chairs as well as a couple of rockers finish off the deck. There is a gate closing off the porch to keep most dogs in. Security lighting by the parking area and lights around the cabin are provided.

Within a few minutes of the cabin you'll find hiking to 3 waterfalls, tubing and trout fishing on Deep Creek. Whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River is available within a 20 minute drive. Nearby you'll also find other hiking trails, horseback riding, wildlife viewing in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park (deer, elk, coyote, fox, turkey, otter, black bear), shopping, dining, train rides through the mountains, skiing in winter, antique shops and flea markets. While the cabin is in a quiet area up in the mountains, you're still only 5 minutes from town. The road up is one way and windy but easily accessible by car, truck or SUV. Large motor homes however are not a good idea because of the fairly steep roads and limited parking area.

Cities/towns nearby include Cherokee, with Harrah's Casino and lots of Indian shops, Maggie Valley, Downtown Sylva, Dillsboro, with another train station and lots of quaint little shops and Downtown Waynesville with lots of shops and dining. Asheville, with the Biltmore Estate is about an hours drive. The entrance to the National Park is about 10 minutes away near Cherokee. From there it is about an hours drive through the park to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Kathy's Cabin is decorated in a hiking/camping theme with numerous photographs of the surrounding area and wildlife. Kick back and relax at our cabin in the woods and help out the LA-SPCA in their efforts to help the animals of New Orleans.

“You won’t be disappointed in this item! My family and I stayed at Kathy’s Deep Creek Hideaway, with our four little dogs, in early May. The drive to the cabin was absolutely amazing. The cabin itself was inviting and comfortable with easy access to all the area has to offer. We saw a bear!” – SP.
