Description

The 1959-60 basketball facts book tells the story of the "Fledgling Five" of 1958-59, an inexperienced sophomore-studded club, that worked its way to 24 wins in 27 starts, a No. 2 ranking in the polls and the expectation of a fifth national title for UK that came up short in the NCAA Mideast Regional Tournament vs.Louisville. Coach Adolph Rupp was named Coach of the Year for only the second time and Bill Lickert was named SEC Sophomore of the Year.

This media facts book produced by the UK Sports Publicity Office in 1959 contains about 60 pages of information about the Wildcat team and its coaching staff, led by head coach Adolph Rupp, "the nations winningest basketball coach," and analysis of the upcoming season and profiles of the student athletes. This copy is addressed to Helen King, director of the UK Alumni Association.
