Description

Four couples will spend the weekend at "Chanticleer," the magnificent country French chateau built for Robert Congdon in 1929. This beautiful residence overlooks Lake Superior and is now owned by Lee and Penny Anderson. Your Friday night will feature dinner and wine at the Northland Country Club, completely rebuilt in 2007 and only minutes away. Saturday you'll want to play golf at Northland, and tee times will be established according to participation. For those not playing, a tour of Glensheen (the original Congdon mansion built in the early 1900s) will be scheduled. Lunch is included at both venues. After a period of relaxation you'll want to think about cocktail and dinner. Naturally, this will be done in the French manner. You will be treated to a catered dinner at the chateau along with French wine pairings from Lee's cellar: Faiveley Montagny 2005 (white Burgundy); Grand Cru Chateau Latour 1978 (Bordeaux); Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1970 (Bordeaux); Domaine Dujac, Clos de la Roche 1978 (red Burgundy); Chateau d'Yquem 1997 (dessert wine).  Weather permitting you will take your sustenance in the famous "storm watch" perched on the overhang overlooking Lake Superior. A port will be offered and coffee, of course. Maybe Limoncello instead? Sunday brunch will conclude this French fantasy. Reservations will be made at Hell's Kitchen in Canal Park where slippers, PJs and robes are worn by the wait staff on Sundays. Your choice of dress is as fun as you want to make it!  This enchanted weekend will take place over the weekend of May 30 or June 13 (Father's Day).
