Berkeley Rustic Birdhouses, a Crafts Marketplace vendor, has donated a Rustic Birdhouse. One of the artists, formerly known as "the birdhouse guy" or "the guy who flew over the cuckoo's nest," Michael Parayno, has been making birdhouses since 1997 as part of a garden project on Sacramento Street across from the North Berkeley BART Station. Neighbors enjoyed the birdhouses so much that he started selling them in December 2001. Hence, the business opened just in time for the birds living in the new millennium. He has been written up in 12 magazines and newspapers and his birdhouses are carried by Magic Gardens, Berkeley Horticultural Society and Westbrae Nursery.
