The late Karl Rittmann's paintings of Rhode Island notables and scenery have been acclaimed for decades. Also a respected educator, his outdoor works have been described as "scenes that people understand" by artist Spencer Crooks.

Warwick light was one of many Rhode Island landmarks Mr. Rittman painted in his beloved home state. Since an earlier depiction of this lighthouse in summer had been so popular, in 1979 he painted it in winter, in oil-on-canvas.
