Maxwell Mays loves to tell stories in his paintings. This one takes us back to October, 1925, as Max shows us his own grandmother's kitchen, from memory. In his remarque, Max says, "Waste not, want not, even wood ashes and a little homemade vinegar polished the door knocker!"
