Verna - who studied with Mary Spardello - has long been fascinated by the Northern Lights, a breathtaking, natural phenomenon usually only visible in northern latitudes. A trip to Fairbanks, Alaska a few years ago allowed her to capture them on film. Those photos - showing the light from above, contrasted with the snowy landscape - have been providing her the inspiration to transfer the magic of the Aurora onto canvas.
