As a youngster, David Witbeck could only spend brief, family vacations near salt water, yet he would always find himself drawing pictures of fishing boats, lighthouses and seascapes. When he decided to concentrate on art, one reason David chose RISD was its proximity to the ocean! His works are strongly influenced by the "childlike drawing, bold colors and complete disregard of objective reality" of painter Leo Brooks. And you can see that style in this expression of a tranquil, sheltered cove in summertime.
