Description

Del-Bourree Bach, a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists, is a contemporary realist who has always been drawn to the magic of the sea. Although years of observation, study, and hard work helped him develop his style, Del plans to never stop growing and evolving as a painter.

Regarding his style of painting, the artist says, "I work in many layers, beginning with thick opaque under painting and eventually ending up with layers of almost transparent washes to add a luminous glow to the finished piece. I work with as big a brush as possible for as long as possible, moving on to smaller ones only for detail work. I love keeping old brushes around to use for various textures. I hope I have learned when a painting is finished, when one more brushstroke will be one too many."

Del has earned over 125 awards in worldwide competition. In 2006 he was the first recipient of Robert Sanstrom Prize and newly minted Gold Medal at the 53rd Annual Open Exhibition of the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic.

Del-Bourree is represented by the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, Courtyard Gallery in Mystic, CT, Hughes Gallery in Boca Grande Florida, Left Bank Gallery in Wellfleet and Orleans, MA, Sheldon Fine Arts in Newport, RI and Cooley Gallery in Old Lyme, CT.
