Description
Experience the artistry and energy of Latin jazz from a master practitioner! See a great show with a friend from orchestra seats!
New Jersey-based clarinetist, saxophonist and composer Paquito D’Rivera is the recipient of the National Medal for the Arts. He is the first artist in history to win Latin Grammy Awards in both the Classical and Latin Jazz categories. "{Paquito} is one of the woodwind giants of our time — his sounds are truly sublime!" says Jazz Times. With his latest CD, the ingenious Funk Tango, D’Rivera and company take on the ever-changing demands of 21st century Latin jazz, incorporating elements of Cuban danzas, Brazilian sambas, Peruvian festejos, Venezuelan waltzes, and Argentinean tangos into works by composers like Astor Piazzolla and John Coltrane as well as scintillating original compositions. Part of NJPAC's Alternate Routes.
