Arts in Action VAP Art Education Program is a process oriented visual arts program that demystifies the process of drawing, painting and sculpting in a logical and analytical way, empowering every child to create with confidence. It builds basic component skills into a global skill that far surpasses the sum of its parts. The perception of edge and line, form and space, composition and relationships along with the creation of colors and the awareness of light and dark, negative and positive shapes, mass and volume, and the gestalt, are all the components that ultimately fuse into a finely tuned sense of Visual Awareness. Learning a Visual Arts Language (as in the acquisition of math, reading, etc.) deepens children’s perspective and insight. That awareness is the heart of creativity.
