Support your local wineries!!!  Suisun Valley is one of the oldest California appellations.  UCDavis says better soil and weather than Napa. That means the wines are good.

2003 Zinfandel - Ledgewood Vineyards - Suisun Valley - TWO BOTTLES

WINEMAKER'S NOTES:  This is a ripe, full-bodied wine that carries intense berry and cherry fruit flavors with touches of plum and spice.  Its soft tannins and firm acidity make it a pleasure to drink now, though hints of vanilla and peper suggest that it will reward aging over the next several years.

APPELLATION:  Suisun Valley

VINEYARDS: This vineyard is on a small knoll near the Napa County line. Warm daytime temperatures moderated by cool marine air in the evenings contribute to bright, complex grape flavors with good acidity. The clone is from the Summit Lake vineyards on Howell Mountain.

VINTAGE: This was the seventh commercial harvest for this vineyard. The timing of harvest was typical for this vineyard, but the level of ripeness was hgiger than in previous years.  The vineyard was picked in two lots, 10 days apart, to ensure consistent ripeness and balance. Yields were moderate, under 4 tons per acre.
