Description

Bobby Thomson’s "shot heard round the world" on October 3 in 1951, a three-run, ninth-inning home run, and his sixth-inning homer in the opening game of the playoffs, which erased a 1-0 Dodger lead, got him the nick-name Staten Island Scot.

Ralph Branca, the Brooklyn Dodger pitcher who gave up New York Giant Bobby Thomson's pennant-winning home run. Branca, pitched for the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Detroit Tigers, and the New York Yankees. He was selected for Major League Baseball's National League All-Star team three times (47'-49').
