Description

A recently renovated five-bedroom, three-bath 4,000 + square foot house on the shore of New Harbor, one of the most picturesque harbors in Maine. Informally furnished in American folk art & antiques with artwork from Maine painters. The master bedroom is 30 feet by 15 feet with two sitting areas and a magnificent view. For the teenagers, there is a finished basement with a big screen TV with cable, and a pool table. Nearly an acre of lawn fronts on the harbor. At low tide there is a 150-foot beach. There is also a dock with an 1800 square foot rustic boathouse, the perfect place to sit at the end of the day and watch the sun set. The Gulf of Maine and Atlantic Ocean are 200 yards away.

This is a working harbor and a dozen lobster boats go out early in the morning. You may hear their motors but they are not irritating, and you will roll over and immediately fall asleep again. Shaw's Wharf, home of excellent lobster rolls and all sorts of delicious seafood, is a 2-minute row across the harbor or a 5-minute drive away, The Hardy Boats also take cruises from Shaw's Warf for seal watching, puffin sightings, and to the lovely Monhegan Island, home to a flourishing arts community.

A small community, New Harbor lies at the foot of the Pemiquid Peninsula, which also boasts historic Fort William Henry, from the French-Indian Wars, Christmas Cove, so named by Capt. John Smith who anchored there in the 1600's on Christmas Day, and the Pemiquid Lighthouse, which graces the Maine State Quarter. In its tiny town is a superb grocery store, and regional restaurants and antique stores abound.

There's much to see, explore and enjoy. Brochures to these and other attractions are available for our guests.
