A friend of WXXI offers a '1908 New York to Paris Race' Package. 2008 is the centennial of the world's greatest automobile race. This package contains a copy of the Julie M. Fenster's book, 'Race of the Century - The Heroic True Story of the 1908 New York to Paris Auto Race,' an account of the men, the cars and the incredible event. (Paperback) In addition there is a framed set of three images reproduced from original 1908 photographs. They include the separate arrivals of the Italian 'Zust' and the French De Dion, teams in front of the Powers Hotel on Main Street in Rochester. The third image is the pilot car of the Rochester Automobile Club, which guided other race participants through the Rochester area. The frame is wood with a dark walnut finish and the images are mounted with archival materials under ultra-violet light filtering conservation clear glass. The overall dimensions of the frame are 11 ? inches by 20 ? inches. Wall mount is included.
