A friend of WXXI offers a signed poster, 'Kaddish,' by Mauricio Lasansky. The title is derived from the Jewish prayer for the dead, the text of which is an affirmation of God. The series Kaddish represents an ongoing digression into the dignity, self-destructiveness and suffering of mankind. Lansky has amassed a body of prints considered to be among the most powerful and impressive works by a contemporary artist in any medium, and has contributed significantly in establishing printmaking as a meaningful and critical art form of the 20th century. This poster, No.5 1976, announces, 'A Retrospective Exhibition of His Prints and Drawings at the University of Iowa Museum in 1976.' It is framed in black, protected under glass, and measures 21 ¼ by 35 inches.
