Description
This original abstract print by Lambertville artist Caroline Armstrong is done in oil-based ink using the monotype technique.
19" x 21.5 "; framed.
Caroline writes,
"I have been printmaking for eight years, focusing on monotype, collagraph and block printing techniques. Classes at Artworks in Trenton, the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, and with local, Lambertville-area artists inspired my keen interest in this art form. In 2001, one piece received recognition at a Fleisher exhibit, while another was awarded “Best Fish Theme” during the Lambertville Shad Festival.
"For seven years prior to embarking on printmaking, I explored the art of paper making, producing decorative sheets, functional sheets, collage, and three dimensional paper sculpture. I sometimes use my hand made paper – especially Japanese style paper – as the back drop for block prints. Paper pulp was also a “key ingredient” in a mixed media sculpture, called “Games People Play,” which showed both at the Café at Rosemont and an Artsbridge exhibit a few years back. This was done as a collaborative project with an area artist and good friend. I have since shown work at subsequent Artsbridge members exhibits."
