Description

Mr Mauro considers himself "a figurative sculptor working in essentially a neoclassical mode."  Yet the materials he uses to create his art are distinctly modern:  sculpted fabric adds a third dimension to contours already accentuated by strokes of acrylic, chalk and graphite.  He models fabric into female forms in the same way another artist might use clay.  His subject has always been the figure, and his main inspiration the art of the Renaissance.
