Background:
The Plymouth Symphony Orchestra is a 63 year old, fully professional ensemble that has a five concert subscription series at Ward Church in Northville and Pops series at the Penn Theatre in downtown Plymouth.
PSO Music Director and Conductor, Nan Washburn, has won 16 ASCAP awards for her innovative programming and commitment to performing the works of contemporary American composers.
The PSO has been the recipient of numerous awards and prestigious grants, including grants from the Kresge Foundation and NEA in 2007, ASCAP awards in 2003 and 2004 2007, a 2006 Aaron Copland grant recognizing the organization's dedication to performing the work of American composers, and the highly sought after NEA "Challenge America" grant in both 2004 and 2005, awarded to only one arts organization per county.
