Sugar Bowl, one of Tahoe's Best Kept Secrets, just keeps getting better. Established in 1939 Sugar Bowl was California's original full service resort that is steeped in history and rich in modern conveniences.
Sugar Bowl offers the most convenient location for Bay Area and Central Valley skiers. With it's location just 3 miles off I-80, at the Norden/Soda Springs exit on Donner Summit, it is the closest major resort. Sugar Bowl is the perfect destination for a day trip, family get-a-way, or to beat the traffic to and from the Tahoe Basin, plus it is a 1/4 take closer in gas!
Not only does Sugar Bowl offer the most convenient access it also boasts the deepest snowfall, some of the most diverse terrain, and a modern high-speed lift network. In the last few years the resort has upgraded all five major lifts, on all four of our distinct mountain peaks, to high-speed express quads. In addition, there is now parking for 2000 cars, some of it under cover, two frequent parking lot shuttles, equipment porters at our designated passenger drop offs at Mt. Judah, overnight ski check and more.
The newly launched interactive website sugarbowl.com offers guests access to up to the minute weather, snow reports, road conditions, and grooming reports. With the resorts five new large format web cams, you'll view mountain conditions in real time. The launch of our latest interactive trail map will help make your trip even easier. View runs by ability, current grooming information, live lift status, and lots of other cool information to make your trip more fun.
On average Sugar Bowl receives the most snowfall, and maintains the deepest pack in the Sierra, because of our location on the western most ridge of the Pacific Crest. Moisture-laden clouds from the Pacific Ocean unload on Donner Summit first before moving toward Lake Tahoe basin.
Sugar Bowl...Less Hassle. More Fun!
