George III satinwood tea caddy with canted line inlaid corners and decorative shell, leaf and acorn inlay with a lidded interior, in the Sheraton manner. Circa 1800
Tea Caddy measures Height: 4.5 in. Width/Length: 5.3 in. Depth: 4 in. Very good condition, one lid support needs small repair.
Tea Caddy is the name of a small box made to hold tea leaves. In the eighteenth century, tea was expensive and it was stored under lock and key. The first tea caddies were made with locks. By the nineteenth century, tea was more plentiful and the tea caddy was larger.
