In 1999, Dr. Krumlauf was named Scientific Director, joining the Institute from England's National Institute for Medical Research. His status as one of the world's top researchers has helped him in recruiting 25 laboratory leaders. These are brilliant scientists who have given up positions at institutions like Harvard and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to pursue their research at the Stowers Institute.
