Description

In 2004, the Linda Hall Library acquired one of the rarest books in the history of science, the "Narratio Prima" (First Report). Published in 1540 by a disciple of Nicolas Copernicus, the book was the first announcement of the Copernican heliocentric system. Without this book, Copernicus never would have published his own treatise and there would have been no "Copernican Revolution." Hear more of this remarkable story and see some of the other astonishing rare books in the Linda Hall Library?s History of Science Collection of rare books. Bruce Bradley, the Librarian for History of Science, will introduce you to books from the time of Gutenberg that are more than 500 years old, and books by Galileo, Newton, and other classics in science and technology. This tour is for up to 10 people and includes lunch at nearby Cafe Europa.
