Description

Champagne Louis Roederer, founded in 1776, is one of the rare family-owned houses left in Champagne. For two centuries, five generations have succeeded each other, all inspired by the same concern for quality. In 1876, Louis Roederer II created the Cristal cuvee for Tsar Alexander II. This is champagne at its finest, as inspired today as it has always been the embodiment of elegance and purity. Cristal is easily recognized by its flat-bottomed clear, "crystal" bottle and gold label.

"Pinot Noir character suffuses this wine, imbuing its aromas with a compelling meaty, leathery, sweaty quality. Full-bodied and earthy, it nevertheless shows great verve and liveliness in its brisk, citrusy finish." (WE 92)
