Description
Toasted Head is named for the age-old practice of toasting barrel heads and staves to impart a mellow, toasted flavor to barrel-aged wines. The winery, with a fire-breathing bear on its label, started in 1995. Tucked away in the Dunnigan Hills of Yolo County, they set out to spread the word of toasted barrels and their distinctive influence on wine. This 3.0 liter bottle of Cabernet, equivalent to four bottles of wine, has a bouquet of cherry and blackberry fruit, with notes of chocolate, leather, roasted coffee and sweet oak. The tannins are mouthfilling but soft, with a hint of smoke.
