Luna Vineyards was founded in 1995 by Mike Moone and George Vare, both past Presidents of California wineries and important influences in the wine industry for 35+ years. Located at the foot of Napa Valley's historic Silverado Trail, Luna set out to produce Italian varietal wines: Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, and Merlot.

The 2003 Merlot is "ripe and racy...with zesty blackberry and wild berry jam flavors" (WS 86). This 3.0 liter bottle is signed by both co-founders and winemaker Mike Drash.
