Description
The Zweigelt is the most commonly planted grape of the red varietals in Austria and is named for the Austrian plant-breeder Prof. Fritz Zweigelt, who created this successful cross to capture the bite and fruity character of Blaufrankisch and the body of St. Laurent. The "Red Waltz" nose has expressions of black cherries, with a surprise black pepper on the finish, high complexity, well-balanced, ripe, soft tannins. Gruner Veltliner, Austria's national grape, is marked by its primary rock character, a light green tinge, yellow apple scents, and spicy hay flavours supported by minerals.
