A dinner with and on Open School's Matthew Hoffman for a family at his favorite Japanese restaurant in Marina Del Rey, Irori. No dress code, though comfortable, easy-to-remove shoes are recommended, as they will have to be taken off before you'll be seated. Proficiency with chopsticks is also recommended, but not mandatory: childrens' training chopsticks and silverware are available on request from the waitresses. Irori serves both sushi and what you might expect from contemporary Japanese cuisine in Los Angeles: various entrees including teriyaki dishes, udon, et cetera. Matthew  recommends the eel and the tonkatsu, both of which are done quite well and are very tasty.
