Description

One 3L bottle of Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1979 Bordeaux.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild is one of only four classified first growths and thus the designation as 1st er Cru. The vintage rankings of the Universale Paris Exposition in 1855 officially gave Lafite the rating as "Leader among fine wines". Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1979 is a blend of 23% Merlot, 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc. The wine has an expressive nose of cedar and tobacco. The first impression on the palate is quite open and balanced and leads to a slightly acid finish. The Chateau Lafite 1979 received 92 points from the Wine Spectator.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1979 is the last vintage of this great wine from the 1970s. Lafite 1979 is a beautiful, elegant, graceful and mature claret. Its energy is captured by its indescribably complex aroma and bouquet. Bottled in a very rare double magnum, this is a collector's dream: the last of a series, a rare format and a gorgeous, mature wine from the greatest red wine estate on earth.
