Seymour Rosenthal was born in the Bronx in 1921. He started drawing with crayons and pencils at the age of five and is still drawing at the age of 81. Rosenthal grew up during the Depression and the rise of fascism. After graduating from Morris High School he spent several years working in the garment center delivering textiles and drawing sketches of his surroundings.  Working as a lithographer brought Rosenthal great joy, but his happiest time was when he left his lithography job and branched out on his own as a full-time artist working with pencils, oils and watercolors.
