This painting was created by Mark Meunier for the Gallery 57 Collection.  Mark wished to portray a subject which would have meaning for viewers in “the Valley.”  His desire was surely accomplished in this incredible view from atop Mount Holyoke in the Holyoke Range.

Mr. Meunier began his formal studies in architecture.  While taking courses to hone his rendering skills, he discovered he enjoyed drawing.  He has been a successful artist and painter ever since.  Mark prefers to paint and will pick up a brush whenever he can.  He works exclusively in egg tempera, which gives him the freedom to achieve great realism and detail in his paintings.  He works from slides and it is not unusual for him to take several rolls of film to find one suitable subject. 

His art has been shown throughout New England and is currently on display at R. Michelson Galleries in Northampton and Amherst and on Cape Cod.  Mark Meunier lives and works in Amherst, Massachusetts.
