A. Hale Johnson is a New Jersey native who lives and paints in his home and studio in the hill town of Colrain, Massachusetts.

His paintings transform two-dimensional planes into time-worn farms and homes, or laden New England skies bearing down on vistas from the past.  For years Johnson has successfully rendered these visions with a strong sense of history and color from what he calls “a palette of reflection.”

A consistent winner of accolades and awards, Johnson has developed a large and enthusiastic following in the United States and abroad.  He has had over 40 one-man shows and his work is actively collected and housed in many private and museum collections.  In the Pioneer Valley, A. Hale Johnson’s work is represented by WN Baczek Fine Arts in Northampton.
