This combination Chess/Backgammon set was chosen by Amarjit Kaur (Rose and Blue Room) for the CMS auction during her recent trip to India.  It was made in Hoshiapur, India, renowned for its Sheeshum wood furniture and carvings.  The lid of this box has an inlaid chess board made of solid wood.  If you take the lid off, and flip it over it is a bagammon board.  Inside the box are hand carved pieces for both games.  As a special feature, this board comes with a second, very intricately carved set of chess pieces.  The inside of the box is lined with green fabric and has six compartments for storing game pieces.  The complete set measures 12" x 12" and is 2.5" deep.
