This unique black and white painting is 22" x 28" and unframed.  Chinese brush painting uses materials common in China for over 1,000 years.  Because the materials were developed for writing, the paintings are symbolic and not representational.  The attitude is not the one developed by the artists of the Renaissance in Italy that produces a window into an alternative reality.  It is more introspective and analytic.  The brush is more responsive and requires discipline but once this is achieved the expression reflects the inner state or the artist.  Once the rhythm and focus is developed the artist is in touch with the inner self and capable of art that can influence others.  The process is meditatitonal and can be very relaxing but also a stimulus to productivity.
