Description

A two hour private pottery lesson with Carol Grocki Lewis in her studio on the upper westside.  Learn to handbuild a clay project and decorate with underglaze.  Try your hand at throwing a pot on the potter's wheel after being guided through the steps by Carol.  Have a wonderful experience with clay.

 
Carol Grocki Lewis is a Children's Sculpture & Pottery Instructor.
She received her M.A. in Museum Studies/Art History from the Gallatin Division, New York University in 1992; her graduate thesis was entitled "Caring for Cultural Property: A Guide for the Private Art Collector." She received her B.S. in Art Education from the State University of New York College at Buffalo in 1977. She is a NYS Certified art teacher for grades K-12. In addition to teaching at the 92nd Street Y, Lewis has taught undergraduate ceramics and continuing education ceramics at Marymount Manhattan College. Her most recent exhibitions include Strictly Functional Ceramics, juried by Susan Peterson, AMACO prize; Journeys in Clay, Mountaintop Gallery, Windham, NY (juried by Susan Beecher); Green County Council on the Arts, For Artsake, Malone, NY; and And in My Other Life, Marymount Manhattan College Gallery, NYC.
