Rolf's is one of the city's most festive German eateries, particularly during the holiday season, when the dining room is decorated to the nines. Surrounded by stained glass windows and black-and-white portraits, regulars indulge in upscale German comfort food like crispy potato pancakes with applesauce, wiener schnitzel and grilled sausages with sauerkraut, accompanied by a long list of imported beers.

A reviewer writes I met up with friends at our favorite holiday spot, Rolf's. If you're ever in New York during the holidays, Rolf's is a must.  I like to refer to the decor as "Christmas personified". As soon as you enter the door of the cozy German restaurant, you're engulfed in a sea of lights and ornaments that would make Santa Claus proud. For a second, you feel like you've been transported to the North Pole. It's impossible not to be in a jolly mood when you're at Rolf's (especially once you've indulged in a couple of Weisse beers!)
