Description
Hunger 101 Simulation: Justice Squared Hunger 101 Simulation is a unique learning experience in which participants are asked to take on the life circumstances of someone in Minnesota who may be hungry. The purpose of this hour-long exercise is to: Help participants understand the complex, intersecting economic and social circumstances that lead to and perpetuate hunger. Develop compassion and empathy for people in need by helping participants understand how poverty creates tough choices and provides few solutions. Fuel participants motivation in the fight against hunger and provide specific suggestions for how to take action. During the hour-long program, each participant must try to get enough food to feed his or her family by visiting a simulated grocery store, soup kitchen and food stamp office. The simulation provides the starting point for an in-depth discussion about hunger. It also supports a strong call to action.
