Once again, MacLean Wines, LLC has generously donated to our auction – this year, a case of their 2005 MacLean Sauvignon Blanc.
2005 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
The 2005 MacLean Cabernet Sauvignon is the fifth release of my solo project, the culmination of over 22 years of winemaking experience in the Napa Valley. My winemaking philosophy is based upon the belief that good vineyard management coupled with focused winemaking can bring forth a natural balance inherent in grapes grown at great sites. My goal is to find and maintain that inherent balance as well as the terroir, which is the interaction of vine, soil and climate. The 2005 MacLean Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit originates from two contiguous vineyards located a short distance south of the Stag’s Leap District and ½ mile east of the Silverado Trail: 80% from the 5-acre “Anselmo Vineyard” and 20% from Quinta de las Piedras (Country Estate of the Rocks). These low-yielding older vines face west and south on 15% slopes and produce wines that are dark, complex and full of rich, supple tannins. The 2005 Cab is deep ruby red in color, saturated to the rim. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, chocolate, cassis and toasty oak. The full and round entry leads to a powerful, dense, concentrated evolution and an extremely long finish with mouth-coating tannins. 485 cases producedSpecial Instructions
