Description

A private three-hour tour for up to ten people of the historic First Hill neighborhood and two of its architecturally significant homes, the Stimson-Green Mansion (1899-1901) and the Henry H. Dearborn House (1907).  The tour will conclude with refreshments in the congenial surroundings of the Stimson-Green mansion.  Included with the tour and refreshment package: one copy of Made To Last: Historic Preservation in Seattle and King County and one copy of The Stimson Legacy: Architecture in the Urban West, both by Lawrence Kreisman.

First Hill is literally Seattle's first neighborhood, where many of the pioneer families put down roots, albeit temporarily. Many quickly moved on as more posh communities developed. But they left behind a rich history of homes, gardens, classic apartment buildings, elegant mansions, social clubs, churches and even hospitals, giving First Hill its distinctive urban flavor.
