Experience Deadwood, an entire town that is a registered National Historic Landmark. From its raucous, boomtown beginnings that drew the likes of Wild Bill Hickok to Calamity Jane, through its transformation to the Western life of luxury, learn about this exciting pioneer town from experts in the field. The Historic Adams House, built in 1892, is an elegant Victorian mansion which has undergone a detailed, museum-quality restoration. This grand home bears witness to the story of two 19th century families, and reveals a cultured lifestyle not commonly associated with the American West. The Adams House Museum is the oldest history museum in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Pioneer businessman W.E. Adams built the museum in 1930 as a memorial to his family and to honor the early pioneers that settled the Black Hills.
