House of Seven Gables in Salem, MA - Overnight Stay, Tour and Pewter Gift

Item Number: 201
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
An overnight stay for two adults at the Morning Glory B&B, a private tour of the beautiful House of the Seven Gables for two, and a reproduction pewter teapot from circa 1700's.
The House of the Seven Gables was the home of Nathaniel Hawthorne's cousin, and stories and legends of the house and its inhabitants inspired the author's 1851 book of the same name. The house, built by Capt. John Turner in 1668, contains six rooms of period furniture, and a secret staircase. Tours include a visit to Hawthorne's birthplace (built before 1750 and moved to the grounds), revealing what life was like for the house's 18th-century inhabitants. The guides are well versed in the history of the buildings and artifacts, and eager to answer questions. The site, a National Historic Landmark District overlooking Salem Harbor, also holds period gardens, the Retire Beckett House (1655), the Hooper-Hathaway House (1682), and a counting house (1830) where children find hands-on activities related to Salem's maritime legacy.
