Description
Host your wedding in a truly historic setting! Imagine celebrating a special occasion in a setting where, in 1607, early settlers established the first permanent English colony in America!
The Jamestown Memorial Church was built in 1907 on the banks of the James River adjacent to the 17th-century church tower, the only remaining above-ground structure from the 17th century at Jamestown. The rustic brick structure provides a special setting for anyone interested in history. The interior of the church contains the brick and cobblestone foundations of the church where the first representative assembly met in 1619. Just yards away, the "noble" James River flows and the archaeological excavation is “rediscovering” this site of our nation’s origins. The River and the otherwise natural setting provide additional beauty and tranquility to the magnificent historic setting, where our most cherished traditions of freedom were planted and took root.
Special Instructions
Space only; no liturgical supplies, linens, organ/piano, program, clergy, flowers; arrangements for these must be done with other providers. The church seats 75 and is best enjoyed in the spring or fall as there is no climate control system in this historic structure. In true historic fashion, seating is on benches without backs, has an altar table lecturn and one big chair. Parking is approximately 400 yards from the church.
Offer expires November 2009.
