Special Instructions

The Lido Casino was an enormously popular complex of restaurants, lounges, shops, a swimming pool, cabanas and lifeguard towers built on Sarasota, Florida's Lido Beach.  It was designed by architect Ralph Twitchell and built as a WPA project.  Eight foot high seahorses adorned the unique facade.  It formally opened in 1940.  Sadly, it was demolished a mere 28 years later in 1968.  The swimming pool is all that remains.
