Simply swimming in the lavish oak that has become something of a signature stamp with Lewis, this rich and nicely fruited wine mixes elements of cassis and black cherry with those of vanilla, creme brulee and sweet toast. Plump and plush in feel, it has a certain immediate appeal even now, but its well-placed tannins and overall depth suggest that a better wine awaits if it can be left alone for five or six years.
