Description

A wonderful example of a great American varietal wine. This Zinfandel exhibits a big, rich, full-blown style with layers of ripe plum, black cherry, blackberry and roasted coffee flavors that are complex - offering depth and dimension. Ray and Nancy Coursen founded Elyse Winery in 1987 with their first production of Morisoli Vineyard Zinfandel. They continued to purchase grapes until 1997 when they bought a small winery on Hoffman Lane. After initially focusing on Zinfandel, the winery expanded into Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah. More recently Ray has made small quantities of Chardonnay, a Cal-Ital blend called Nero Misto, a Chenin Blanc, Rose, and a Grenache called Le Corbeau. The winery has two labels, Elyse and Jacob Franklin, named after their two children. A delicious wine to accompany a celebratory meal in 2010!

Special Instructions

Through the generosity of Ashley and Mike Meece, Colleen and Andy Fisher, Joanna and Mark Goodin, and especially selected by Schneiders of Capitol Hill with the input of Ned Rubenstein and Tony Everett, we present you with this Wine Surprise! For each grade two special wines were selected from a vintage corresponding to the grade's birth years that is recommended for drinking the year your child graduates from NPS! We salute the children in each of our grades and toast to their journey through NPS. Enjoy!  Bidding will be available at the auction event only.
