Description

This is a classic, premium Shiraz from the brilliant Australian wine maker, Grant Burge. Full of black currant and pepper flavor, supported with smooth mocha and vanilla notes from perfectly integrated oak. The shiraz for this wine was harvested by hand from 80-year-old vines on the highly regarded Filsell Vineyard at the southern end of the Barossa valley, near Lyndoc. The wine is named after the maker's grandfather who founded the winery in the 1860s. This wine will be at its' peak in the summer of 2009 - and beyond. Rating: 90 points, Wine Spectator
