The Heritage Theatre Company is a local professional non-profit theatre company and their mission is Preserving our history and heritage on the professional American stage. The Heritage Theatre Company will be presenting the riveting Stanley R. Greenberg drama, "PUEBLO" in their 200 seat theatre located in Silver Spring, Maryland from September 19 - October 11, 2008. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the international U.S.S. PUEBLO incident (January 23 - December 23, 1968); one of the largest International events of our nation's Cold War period. While in International waters on January 23, 1968, The PUEBLO and her 83 member crew were fired upon, then seized by North Korea, held, beaten and tortured for 11 months before the crew was freed on December 23, 1968. Bumper stickers were seen on cars in the United States everywhere with the message: REMEMBER THE PUEBLO. To learn more about the performance and the Pueblo incident, please see the Heritage Theatre Company website: http://www.theheritagetheatre.org The Heritage Theatre Company has been pleased to have Avalon high school students serve as interns in past and upcoming performances and wishes Avalon a successful Gala.
