Description
Painted canvas rugs, aka floorcloths, date back to 1700s America, and are likely to have graced the floors of the Brooks family, for whom Brookewood is named. This 50"x60" floorcloth was hand painted by the Seventh Grade under the guidance of Brookewood mom, Tina Sandri, and features ragged Brookewood blue hues in a checkerboard patter, Bengal paw prints around the border bear each artist's name, and the fess wavy azure (brook) of the School Crest flows across the cloth. The artists interpreted roses from the Crest represent holiness in family, work and social life. Topped with multiple coats of polyurethane, this durable area rug is meant to be used as well as loved, in a bedroom, playroom, porch, or as a wall hanging.
